Double 4L

Compound D’s are simple Tri-D boxes arranged to form compound configurations.
They are strong pulling kites and fly at quite high angles. Due to their aspect ratio, they are best in clean winds making them an ideal beach kite.
The configurations made so far are shown here. The “Single” and “Double” in the name refers to the number of rows of cells in each of the front and back assemblies.

The larger configurations fly in slightly less wind than the smaller ones, but all fly in surprisingly low winds considering their mass.
Take caution when fly in strong winds due to their pull.
The “L” denotes the number of Longerons.
